Expert advice –
People in the hills often suffer from pigmentation of the skin. This is because the UV index which damages the skin is very high in the hills.
The most important thing for you to do is to start using a sunscreen. A sunscreen with SPF 30 or more will be good enough as long as you use it 30 minutes before stepping out and re-apply every 2 hours when outdoors. The sunscreen should be used from 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening. Use it all through the year including winters and rainy and cloudy days.
Look into your lifestyle, try and eat brightly coloured fruits and vegetables, drink about 2.5 litres of water a day and fight stress. If you smoke, quitting that would be a good idea.
You can use a face pack at home using sandalwood powder, lemon juice and gram flour. This will works as a fruit peel and may lighten the pigmentation.
You can also consult your dermatologist for further treatments if this doesn't work.
